Tile Maintenance

Tesoro Tile will last you a very long time. To ensure you gain the most enjoyment and efficiency from your tile, remember these simple rules:

Sweep glazed tile regularly. (For tiles without deep clefts, you may also vacuum to remove dust.)

Wash Tile Regularly. Warm water is best. Clean with a mild, diluted solution. Do not use vinegar and water…vinegar and grout do not mix. Always rinse clean with warm water. For best results, clean grout with an alkaline-based cleaner (such as Spic & Span.) Avoid oil-based cleaners as well (Murphy’s, MinWax, etc.) as they may leave a residue on both tile and grout.

Avoid ammonia-based and oil-based cleaners. They may discolor your grout.

Never Wax Glazed Tile. An excess buildup of wax on the glazed finish can make the tile very slippery. Glazed tile retains its natural shine, so simple cleaning with water and a mild detergent is sufficient to keep the tile looking good for life.
